I obtained my Masters and Ph.D. degrees from Andhra University and University of Mysore, respectively. After my post-doctoral training at National Institutes of Health, USA, I joined the faculty of the Department of Neurochemistry at National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences, Bangalore and continued there till 2000 when I moved to National Brain Research Centre as Founder Director.In May 2009, I moved to Indian Institute of Science.

My major research interests pertain to understanding the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders with the overall goal of discovering disease modifying therapies.
